ECAC Hockey - a Division I men’s and women’s college hockey league comprising 12 institutions, seeks qualified applicants for a part-time, seven (7)-month position of Communication/Marketing Intern for the 2017-18 season. The term of employment shall be October 1, 2017 - April 30, 2018. The ECAC Hockey office is located in the Times Union Center in Albany, New York. Duties/responsibilities include, but are not limited, to performing communication functions for the promotion of the League, its member institutions and activities; overseeing daily management of the League Web site and social media outlets; producing, editing and posting various league videos such as ECAC Hockey Insider, a weekly program featuring league student-athletes and coaches; assisting with development of marketing and promotional plans, and execution of such plans; assisting in the planning and coordination for special media-related events and league championships; assisting in solicitation of championship program advertising sales; working with staff at the Olympic Regional Development Authority (ORDA) to increase attendance at the league's men’s championship through group sales initiatives; assisting in solicitation of championship program advertising sales, and corporate sales; fulfilling sponsorship commitments as applicable; attending events at campus and tournament sites as assigned to develop relationships with the media, support institutional efforts and promote the League; coordinating and publicizing League’s awards program and other related League-wide recognition programs; serving as a League representative with institutional sports information directors, maintaining regular communication throughout the year; and performing duties as assigned by the Commissioner or Assistant Commissioner.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Sports Administration or related field; experience in video production and editing strongly preferred; strong oral, writing, organizational and interpersonal communications skills; self-starter with ability to work independently, with multiple deadline-driven project; proficient with MAC platform, and a variety of social media platforms; able to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends during the college hockey season.
Selected candidate shall be required to adhere to a flexible work schedule, including duties on nights and weekends during the season. Compensation shall be a monthly stipend of $1,250, payable at the end of each month. This position is not eligible for benefits.
