Established in 1921, Parsons Paris is a branch campus of The New School, a progressive university based in New York City. The degree programs and summer and study abroad courses at this modern atelier build upon the curriculum of The New School's globally acclaimed art and design school: Parsons School of Design.
The Communications Manager role is a new position, created to drive awareness and further develop the reputation and image of Parsons Paris. It is based in Paris and works in close collaboration with the Marketing & Communication (M&C) department of The New School in New York City.
Reporting to M&C's Associate Vice President, Strategic Marketing based in New York City, the Communications Manager for Parsons Paris is responsible for developing and executing marketing strategies as well as editorial planning. S/he oversees the development and implementation of a marketing strategy that includes brand marketing, academic program marketing, PR, recruitment support, and digital engagement, and serves as primary contact for media relations and external agencies.
In addition to writing and creating print and digital marketing content, the Communications Manager maintains Parsons Paris' digital presence, cultivating a distinctive voice that captures the dynamic and prestigious nature of the school, driving conversation and engagement across all social media platforms, and ensuring content is fresh, reflects The New School's mission and meets Parsons' design standards.
Because the Communications Manager works on a daily basis with Parsons Paris leadership, faculty and staff, and will be closely engaged with marketing colleagues in New York City, the position requires both a highly collaborative spirit and the initiative to execute independently.
Marketing Strategy - Define and propose marketing strategies to the M&C Associate Vice President, Strategic Marketing - Draft the marketing and communications plan, and budget requests to activate it - Lead strategic briefings and contribute to creative development of print and digital materials. - Develop and oversee communication campaigns – Identify compelling stories and announcements, write and distribute press releases. Collaborate with M&C colleagues to ensure messaging is on brand and aligned with overarching university messaging – Serve as lead contact for external agencies and media inquiries - Identify and engage social influencers in key thematic areas: art + design, sustainability, social justice and technology for social good. - Identify opportunities for brand activations and represent Parsons Paris at those events. - Develop compelling messaging to share on Parsons Paris' owned media platforms (e.g. Parsons Paris website, social media, newsletters). - Identify and pursue opportunities to partner with organizations that share Parsons Paris' values and creative expertise. - Collaborate with M&C colleagues to create merchandise and promotional materials for Parsons Paris. - Serve as a resource for the Parsons Paris community on best practices for PR and events.
Content Creation - Concept, write and produce print and digital marketing content and materials, including brochures, letters, emails and website copy. - Write copy for Parsons Paris website and coordinate posting with M&C. - Develop and implement cohesive digital campaigns for Parsons Paris – Create content, launch and optimize digital campaigns including Facebook Live video, Instagram Stories, photography, and typographic elements. – Collaborate with M&C to customize and deploy photo and video assets.
Community Management - Develop social media charter including do’s and dont’s - Respond to social media questions and comments in a helpful and timely manner. - Partner with Parsons Paris leadership and M&C to create and deploy messaging in times of crisis, including times outside of regular work hours.
Research ,Analytics and Reporting - Track and analyze key performance indicators on all marketing initiatives and report regularly. Provide ongoing feedback on accomplishments and opportunities for improvement. - Maintain knowledge of competition, and trends and advances in digital media to provide regular and formalized reports, benchmarks, best practices and updates to colleagues. - Assist with ongoing analysis and reporting of pricing, presentation and promotion of competitor institutions. - Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree required. Communications, Marketing or related field preferred - Must have work authorization in the European Union - Must be fluent in French, and very familiar with French style of communication. - Minimum of 3 years experience in a strategic marketing or communications position. - Passion and enthusiasm for art and design, culture, technology, and educational innovation. - Excellent writing and presentation skills, with experience thinking strategically and coming up with big ideas. - Resourceful and able to work independently, think ahead, find creative solutions, and meet deadlines. - Highly collaborative with a positive and service oriented attitude. - High level of proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and electronic. communication. Working knowledge of Photoshop, InDesign and HTML a plus. - Flexibility to attend evening and weekend events on campus.
