Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Marketing Assistant for the Department of Communications and Public Affairs at Rutgers, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
Reporting to the Director of Communications and Public Affairs, this position will provide marketing and administrative support in implementing comprehensive communications and marketing strategies, programs and activities that increase awareness and facilitate the overall communications effort in the four missions of Rutgers, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School with all constituencies.
Responsible for managing all mailing databases including one for the media as well as internal and external consistencies for the Department of Communications and the Office of the Dean.
Assists the Director of Communications and Public Affairs with budget preparation and reconciliation.
Handles the procurement function for the department.
Assists with the planning and support of all events coordinated by the Department including but not limited to receptions, seminars, academic events, gala, endowed lecture series and alumni events.
Coordinates projects, handles layout and design for fliers, programs, and newsletters, writes correspondence and creates reports as assigned.
Assists with all departmental projects including but not limited to print publications, advertising, web and other marketing communication in support of Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or related field.
Previous experience in marketing, healthcare, layout and design and office administration.
Equivalent experience, education and/or training may be substituted for the education requirements.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrated effectiveness in goal setting, project planning, layout and design and organizational skills and the capacity for managing and prioritizing multiple projects under tight deadlines.
Proficiency in Quark Express, PhotoShop, Excel, Constant Contact, Access, PowerPoint and Word.
Good interpersonal and written communication skills.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Physical Demands: Standing, sitting, walking, talking or hearing. No special vision requirements. Ability to lift or exert force up to 25 pounds.
Work Environment: Office environment with moderate noise.
