The Assistant AD for Marketing and Fan Engagement will develop, coordinate and execute a comprehensive marketing plan for Penn Athletics, with a focus on ticketed sports (football, men’s and women’s basketball, lacrosse and wrestling) and the Penn Relays, the nation’s oldest and largest track competition, to increase ticket sales, drive attendance and create a memorable and exciting fan experience while fostering innovative and collaborative efforts to engage students, staff, alumni, sponsors, donors and prospective fans. Develops and implements sales strategies, using digital and traditional marketing methods, and works collaboratively with the ticket office and outsourced ticket sales provider Aspire to increase season ticket sales, group sales, and single game ticket sales, and student attendance at intercollegiate events and Penn Relays. Develops, coordinates and executes a marketing plan that meets and exceeds revenue goals from the Ivy League Network and the Penn Athletics Online Fan Shop and serves as the Division’s contact for licensing requests. Supervises Assistant Director of Marketing, part-time marketing staff and work study students, and manages the department’s Cheer, Mascot, and Band. Reports to and receives direction from the Associate Athletic Director, Administration and Strategic Communications.
A Bachelor’s Degree and 5-7 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Master’s degree preferred. Previous experience directing marketing and promotions, preferably in college athletics or professional sports, communications or fan experience . Experience developing successful marketing plans. Experience with hosting large events preferred. Previous supervisory experience strongly preferred. Excellent customer service skills. Strong oral and written communications skills. Graphic design experience (Adobe Photoshop) and HTML coding required. Must be able to work evenings and weekends as required.
