Assistant Director of Marketing and Communications

Ohio University's College of Business (COB) invites applications for an Assistant Director of Marketing and Communications. As a member of the college's Marketing and Communications (MarCom) team, this position is critical to the growth of OHIO's graduate business programs. The position is based in Athens, Ohio and is expected to begin prior to the start of the 2018-19 academic year. This is a full-time position and reports to the COB's Director of Marketing and Communications.
As a member of the COB Marketing and Communications team, you'll help increase the number of qualified candidates for our top-ranked graduate and executive education programs. This includes working with COB Graduate Programs to launch new degrees and expand existing programs to new audiences. You'll also have an opportunity to work on exciting college-wide projects and collaborate with faculty, program directors, administrators, and college leadership. The ideal candidate will have experience thinking strategically, creating marketing plans, flawlessly executing communication campaigns, and the ability to interpret data (results) to produce meaningful insights to optimize our promotional efforts. Reflecting the COB's culture and work ethic, the assistant director will be highly organized and lead several projects while balancing multiple priorities to accomplish goals. Responsibilities for this position include (but are not limited to):
- Coordinating with internal and external partners (such as advertising agencies and vendors) to create, implement, and measure paid media campaigns that include traditional and digital media. The assistant director will serve as the primary liason between the college and agencies that execute digital marketing efforts. You'll help create campaign elements such as display banner ads, review paid search copy, set up landing pages, and write advertising copy.
- Writing. Lots of writing – emails, stories, social media posts, and brochure content to name a few. Through your words and graphic design skills, you'll support and elevate the OHIO and COB brand. Working with your colleagues and student writers, you'll keep the college website up to date and distribute information via digital channels. We need someone with an eye for details, someone who can proof and edit, but also write effectively for recruiting sophisticated audiences.
- Collaborating with stakeholders across the organization. As assistant director, you'll manage many relationships with student employees, graduate assistants, the graduate programs recruitment team, printing services, University Communications and Marketing (UCM), and the COB events team. This includes working with our teams to promote recruiting events and application deadlines. Communication is key and in this role you'll have the opportunity to share your status, progress, and accomplishments with various contacts.

Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Journalism, Communications, English or related field and at least 1 year of related professional experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Consideration will be given to candidates with a graduate degree in Marketing, Communications, Higher Education, or related field; at least 3 years of related professional experience; experience with design programs such as Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator, experience with Salesforce CRM/Pardot, experience with website content management systems, experience in higher education and/or graduate business programs.
