We’ve got a truly unique opportunity for you if you’re looking to combine your creative and organizational talents and assist our organization’s newest committee in developing marketing resources for our members.
The Power Transmission Distributors Association (PTDA) is a trade organization whose members keep industry in motion by making and selling machinery components—gears, belts, bearings, motors, chains and 12 other product categories. Our mission is to advance our members’ industry and empower our members to be successful, profitable and competitive in a changing market environment.
We’re seeking a Director, Marketing & Communications to increase participation in our programs and services, communicate industry and association trends and news and assist in building tools that help our distributor members position themselves as the right supplier for current and potential customers. Your project and volunteer management, marketing, writing and design capabilities will be refined as you lead the relevant initiatives. With the assistance of a part-time Marketing Specialist, you’ll need to be resourceful—sometimes through “do-it-yourself’ or by sourcing cost-efficient vendors.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Support our Advocacy with End Customers Committee in their efforts to research, develop and promote PTDA programs and services to help our distributor members influence the buying behavior of their end customers.
Together with staff program managers, craft and implement marketing campaigns to increase participation in our programs. From understanding our strategic and operational goals to finding the right words and images to include in broadcast emails, you’ll be the one spearheading all of the marketing and communication efforts.
Publish our well-respected quarterly industry newsletter including gathering intel on what’s hot in the industry, writing articles, editing columns and staff-produced articles, sourcing images and overseeing the production and distribution.
What You’ll Need:
The ideal candidate will have that rare blend of project and volunteer management, marketing and writing/editing talents. Knowledge will be demonstrated by a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in marketing, communications or journalism, as well as five years’ relevant work experience, preferably in a nonprofit environment. Exceptional organizational and project management skills as well as superior verbal and written communication skills are essential. You’ll serve as both a team leader and a team member, so you must be able to work independently and within a team environment, jumping from task to task as priorities arise and shift. From a technology perspective, we’re looking for someone with proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop) in a PC environment in addition to Constant Contact.
Additional Salary Information: What We Offer:
In addition to competitive compensation, we believe our benefits package—from health care to semi-annual staff outings—makes PTDA a great place to work. Our downtown Chicago office is a convenient commute via mass transit. As a small organization, there is opportunity for you to get involved in every area of the association and see your work through from conception to completion.
