ASCD seeks a mission-focused, process-minded leader and manager who performs in a high visibility role as a member of the Executive Management Council.
The Managing Director of Marketing and Integrated Services is responsible for the alignment and integration of key services including marketing, creative design, membership, and branding to impact products and services across the organization that drives revenue, enhance membership and engagement, influence attendance at learning events, and impact international brand recognition.
This position is responsible for developing and actualizing a strategic focus on best practices and current trends in marketing strategies and systems to drive branding, member acquisition and retention, product development, and sales. By integrating and leveraging the functions of creative design, production, and editorial services, the position provides value to the organization as a thought-leader with considerable emphasis placed on innovation, relationship building, and collaboration across workgroups and all organization programs and services.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as a collaborative thought leader on the Executive Management Council to ensure that ASCD is well positioned to meet its mission and financial goals.
Collaborate with executive and senior leaders to establish benchmarks and KPIs that measure the association’s progress toward business goals.
Ensure mission-focused, cost-effective, day-to-day operations through effective staff supervision, efficient budget development, budget management, and contract management), strategic planning and execution.
Establish a vision and oversee the strategic and tactical initiatives that drive revenue generation for all print and digital ASCD products, services, and events.
Develop and oversee the implementation plan for membership, recruitment, retention, and engagement and work collaboratively with an outside vendor to meet membership goals.
Collaborate with the Communications and Public Affairs Office on an integrated strategy to enhance the performance and positioning of the ASCD brand across markets and external constituencies.
Provide strategic consultation to the meeting and events team to help maximize participation and engagement and ensure a valuable experience for all attendees.
Provide strategic direction and implementation oversight to all brand advancement activities including visual images, logo/mark, collateral material design, and publications. Also, develop and implement brand standards across the association’s brands.
Provide leadership and direction in ongoing analytics regarding the ASCD value proposition for current members, potential members, key constituents, and customers.
Allocate budgetary and human resources appropriately to achieve maximum results tied to profitability and expense management targets.
Manage team performance to ensure team members positively influence the organizational goals.
Review, analyze, and interpret the results of promotional activities, research and testing, sales and market trends, and competitor information to inform product development, modifications, and retention strategies.
Manages unit staff and budget; provides a climate for motivation and innovation; supports positive working relationships with direct reports; establishes effective teamwork and collaboration practices; openly supports the organization’s direction, strategy, and employee programs; and is accountable for adhering to and upholding all applicable employment laws and the association’s operating protocols.
Master’s degree in marketing, business, or other relevant field is preferred.
Extensive knowledge of non-profit business practices.
Demonstrated knowledge and track record of success with marketing, membership programs, advertising, direct mail, print production, database maintenance, and project and budget management.
Demonstrated knowledge of and/or experience with development and implementation of digital strategy and products.
Knowledge of trends and issues in K-16 education highly preferred.
Broad knowledge of strategic framework, program management, business processes.

Minimum ten years of experience managing at least one of the primary areas in the program office with a priority on marketing experience
Ten or more years of supervisory experience of a large program office is required.
Experience managing a P&L with demonstrated positive growth.
Experience leading large and cross-functional teams.
Association or non-profit organization experience is expected.
An extensive background in education, education marketing, or non-profit associations is highly desirable.
Normal demands associated with a deadline-driven office environment.
The noise level is generally quiet to moderate.
Daily contact with external customers, vendors, colleagues, associates, supervisors, and staff at all levels of the organization.
Ability to remain at a desk for extended periods of time.
