A. To provide leadership, advice, and assistance for member-education, public relations, industrial and residential electric service. Be the audit energy auditor expert for our members.
B. To encourage the membership to make the most beneficial use of electricity, and to acquaint them with new and improved uses of electricity. Educate the member on energy information and developed new technology available to best manage their energy use.
C. To implement the marketing programs of the Cooperative. Focus on new and existing technologies to guide wise use of energy, coupled with available rates. Understand and advise members and employees about retail rates.

III. RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITIES
A. Represents the Cooperative in a professional manner while developing and implementing member programs to educate and inform the membership/employees and assist members/employees with problems with their energy usage and member programs.
B. Meets with contractors, homeowners and builders to encourage the efficient use of electricity in construction and to gain knowledge and information to pass on to members. Educate contractors/employees/members of energy efficient designed for new and existing structures and advise on using available power management technology.
C. Keeps informed of improved practices in home construction, insulation, efficient and wise use of heating, air conditioning and other appliances and machinery.
D. Understand and educate members on distributed generation, like solar Photovoltaics electric vehicles and battery systems, on the value and wise investment for these technologies. Use Customer Information System to explain hourly kWh use and generation to advise all member questions. Advise member on rates affecting their decision on the installation of items.
E. Advises and helps members individually with suggestions on wise use of energy in new homes, during remodeling, or in existing structures through energy audits, appliance surveys and load management surveys. Able to conduct BPI certified audits with blower door or equivalent. Must be a certified energy auditor using blower door, to be able to assess problems with the shell of the building and advise the member on the performance of the heating and cooling system.
F. Speaks to civic, community, schools, and youth groups and other opportunities for educational purposes and to promote good will and better understanding of Cooperative activities between members, personnel and the general public.
G. Keeps informed of the applicable provisions of the National Electric Codes and local codes to inform members on adequate wiring. Employee must maintain an energy auditing license or designation, to provide safe auditing practices and current technology for energy audits.
H. Investigates member service complaints, explains billing procedures and ways to use electricity more wisely and aids in referral of members to agencies for loans or temporary financial assistance. Employee helps members with high bills in office and field audits. Use hourly energy data to assist with member energy concerns used discussing with the member and combined with audits.
I. Aids the Director of Marketing and Energy Services in development of member marketing programs and assists in the training of employees.
J. Participates in community and civic groups to obtain increased understanding and acceptance of the Cooperative’s programs.
K. Assists in the set up and implementation of the annual meeting.
L. Performs other duties as assigned.
A. Members – To resolve high bill complaints, exchange technical information, promote the Cooperative’s programs, coordinate educational and marketing programs. To advise member on energy usage and assist with marketing promotions.
B. General Public – To represent the Cooperative as assigned or necessary in recognized and worthwhile public community functions; to take advantage of every opportunity to obtain increased public and member understanding in the plans and programs of the Cooperative. Provide marketing program support and training for employees in the district office.
C. Other Cooperatives – To share experiences; to collaborate with in respect to Member Service Programs, focused on helping the member with energy management and to confer with in related programs.
D. NRECA/Touchstone Energy/BPI/SC Energy Office ASCEM – Participate in training workshops on member relationships and energy conservation as appropriate for job responsibilities.
EDUCATION: Associates degree in Business, Marketing or related field is required. Professional energy auditor technical training also required. Building Performance Institute training or Home Energy Rating System certification is preferred.
EXPERIENCE: Must have three (3) years’ experience in Business, Marketing or Energy Management. Directly related experience plus technical training may be substituted for degree. Three (3) years in the position to gain requisite skills.
JOB KNOWLEDGE: Should possess general understanding of principles of electricity and technical understanding of the practical application of electric power in the home, and in business operations. Employee must be familiar with the National Electric Code.
ABILITIES & SKILLS Must be able to perform energy audits meeting Building Performance Institute criteria or equivalence. Must be able to provide direct employee training to manage the marketing programs with communication in the Districts. Must be able to establish and maintain amicable internal and external relations with member-consumers, the general public and other employees. Employee must have skills for outside sales for Marketing Programs. Employee must be able to perform public speaking. Must possess and maintain a valid S. C. Driver’s License. Employee must have Microsoft Office skills to create and manage documents, communication and data to assist members.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Usual office working conditions with regular hours and after-hours work is required. Limited travel required. Employee participates in civic and community functions. Participates in seminars and association meetings. Individual must reside where employed. Must be able to lift and carry equipment weighing 30 pounds. Must be able to work in confined spaces.
