Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Marketing Information Assistant (Social Media Specialist) for the Office of Communications and Public Affairs at the Cancer Institute of New Jersey.
The primary purpose of the Marketing Information Assistant (Social Media Specialist) is to develop, enhance, and maintain the social media channels for Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey and ScreenNJ, as well as other interactive marketing activities.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Creates opportunities that will drive traffic to our social media channels, increasing the number of followers as well as the level of engagement.
Works with the Program Manager to create and schedule interactive, engaging content for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, You Tube and more.
Helps with planning, development and implementation of social media strategies, content calendars, and tactical plans, ensuring that all social media messages, measurements and content are relevant to target audience.
Tracks social media traffic and trends and make suggestions for increased engagement.
Works with Director of Communications and Public Affairs on the design and development of new physician welcome cards including interfacing with the printer to ensure best production practices and pricing.
Works with Director of Communications and Public Affairs on the development of various marketing activities providing graphic design, photography, and implementation of electronic marketing pieces for activities such as sponsorships.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Communications, Graphic Arts, or related field.
Two (2) years of demonstrated professional experience with managing social media channels.
Equivalent education, experience and/or training may be substituted for the degree.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proficient in the Adobe CS Creative Suite (including Photoshop, Illustrator and In Design).
Excellent communication, writing, and graphic design skills as well as demonstrated knowledge of photography and video production.
Highly motivated and possess a high degree of creativity.
Team oriented, flexible, and focused on completing projects in a timely manner.
Organized and detail oriented and able to articulate concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Effective oral and communication skills.
Computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
Ability to work effectively with multiple constituencies.
Experience working in a healthcare or academic environment.

Physical Demands: Standing, sitting, walking, talking and hearing. No special vision requirements. Lifting up to 25 lbs.
