Serve as the front line point of contact for conference and event inquiries. The inquiry process includes: reserving venues and services, developing detailed cost estimates, conducting site visits, issuing proposals and contracts, working with campus service providers, coordinating pre-planning meetings, and troubleshooting when conflicts/problems arise relating to facilities or services. Take a leading role in departmental marketing efforts to maximize business, including tracking inquiries to examine and evaluate past, current and future business. Manage student positions related to sales and marketing. As needed provide support to other activities and areas within Events & Conferences such as Commencement, summer conference housing and event coverage.
Bachelor's degree and three to five years of relevant experience with customer service, sales, hospitality or conferences/ events is required. Must have excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to analyze and anticipate client needs while comparing to available facilities and services. Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to remain calm and positive under pressure and to deal effectively and diplomatically with a variety of constituencies. Must be resourceful and able to set priorities to successfully execute short and long term overlapping projects. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office suite including Excel. Ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends to accommodate client meetings, site visits or other needs. Driver's License is required. Knowledge of Boston University facilities preferred.
