AIR seeks an experienced Marketing & Communications Manager (MCM) to join our dynamic team of change-makers advancing our mission and increasing the knowledge and adoption of our programs and talent.
The position demands an individual with strong writing and organizational skills, multi-media acumen and savvy, who is sparked and inspired by interacting with others. AIR’s MCM has, ideally, experience in and passion for the role of media in a changing world. (S)he has a high level of editorial skill, is a fast, bright writer, with 3-5 years experience in managing social and online platforms. The MCM is flexible and responsive to quickly shifting priorities; a network-builder: comfortable in establishing and growing relationships with allies and influencers in person and online.
A successful candidate will bring:
A sophisticated understanding of public relations and brand development
A portfolio of earned, owned and paid media projects
Experience in campaign and event creation and management
Expertise in creating and directing social media campaigns
A background in the nonprofit or public media sectors
At AIR, you will:
Increase awareness of AIR, its network and its programs, with outcomes measured by increases in earned media coverage, membership in our network, and referrals for talent curation and programming
Develop our social media footprint, primarily on Facebook and Twitter, and measurement of our rate of conversion from audience to participation in our network
Build a diverse community
Measure and extend industry wide awareness of AIR as primary source for media talent
Measure and expand awareness of AIR as a talent source across industries seeking multimedia talent
Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communications, Marketing (or comparable experience)
At least 5 years of digital communication experience, ideally in a media or mission-driven setting, and covering areas such as website management and communications
Basic knowledge of HTML; strong experience with Content Management Systems, including WordPress
Knowledge of email management platforms (prior Mailchimp and Wufoo experience preferred)
Ability to effectively use graphic design software, e.g. Photoshop
Demonstrated ability to take knowledge and transform it into exciting and useful messages, and disseminate it to the right audiences through the best distribution channels
Commitment to diversity throughout both internal and external communications
Strong writing skills, ideally with experience writing for radio
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
Strongly deadline driven, top-notch multi-tasker
Flexible and adaptive problem-solving abilities to suit a growing, changing organization
Cultural competence, emotional maturity, and ability to work successfully with diverse groups
