Job Title: Vice President, Marketing, Communications, and Sales
Reports to: Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice President
Job Summary: Responsible for leading a contemporary, dynamic, and organization wide integrated marketing, sales, and communications program. Key areas include: marketing ASHP’s wide array of products and services domestically and internationally; promoting membership; and leading corporate communications, public and media relations, web communications, brand management, individual and institutional sales, product licensing and print and digital advertising. Provides leadership in support of all business units in the development and execution of strategic marketing, communications, and revenue enhancement plans.
Participates in the development of ASHP’s strategic plan. Develops annual goals and objectives for the assigned office. Directs and monitors the accomplishment of the annual goals and objectives and communicates changes and/or barriers to achieve the desired outcomes.
Responsible for the development and maintenance of broad operational policies and procedures for assigned ASHP offices. Reviews and recommends changes to corporate wide policies and procedure as part of ASHP’s senior management team. Keeps abreast of market trends to help ensure ASHP operational policies and procedures to reflect best market practices.
Develops annual operating budget projections for an assigned ASHP office. Delegates budget accountability to divisional leaders. Responsible for the office’s actual budgetary performance against approved budget targets.
Responsible for the organization configuration and staffing levels for an assigned ASHP office. Approves all personnel actions for subordinate employees within the assigned office. Is accountable for career planning and staff development of subordinate employees, including succession planning. Responsible for setting employee performance objectives, conducting performance reviews and pay decisions for direct reports.
Major Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides vision and proactive leadership for a global marketing, communications, and sales enterprise.
Oversees a team of over 20 marketing, communications, web, and sales professionals.
Leads the development and implementation of best-practice-driven comprehensive marketing, communications, revenue enhancement, and sales plans.
Serves as an ASHP brand leader and ensures that all messaging is consistent with ASHP brand standards and goals.
Develops and oversees budgets for all areas of oversight and guides the development of marketing plans, budgets, and pricing strategies for all ASHP products and programs.
Designs and implements strategies for optimizing revenue from new and existing sources such as membership dues, advertising, content marketing, publications, meetings and exhibition income, and other products and services.
Oversees contractors and vendors, including advertising sales representatives, distributors, and designers, and holds them accountable for applying best practices and meeting pre-defined goals.
Oversees marketing research, application of marketing analytics, and other data-driven strategies to increase the awareness, understanding, value, and demand for ASHP products and services domestically and internationally.
Oversees web communications, including design, branding, and strategic execution of ASHP’s website and other web properties and assets.
Oversees corporate communications programs including media and public relations; executive, board of directors, member, stakeholder, and employee communications; reputation management, speechwriting and presentation development, social media, news writing, and other communications channels.
Leads the development, implementation, and assessment of marketing, communications, and sales metrics, as well as other analytics.
Serves as a key member of ASHP’s domestic and international business development team.
Serves as a member of various internal and external committees.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's Degree in marketing or management highly preferred.
M.B.A. or other management/business-related advanced degree highly preferred.
At least 15 years of marketing, communications, sales, brand management, web, corporate communications, and domestic and international sales experience, with at least 5 years in senior management (vice president or above) in an organization of similar or larger size, scope, and budget as ASHP.
Strong experience and a proven track record of success in international marketing, sales, and relationship development and management required.
Experience in both for-profit and nonprofit sectors desirable.
Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
Superior interpersonal, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
Demonstrated ability to lead highly effective cross-functional teams.
