Diversity Abroad seeks an energetic professional to manage our marketing strategy as well as the our internal and external communications. The Marketing and Communications Manager (MCM) will take an integrated approach to marketing the organization and our various services and resources pertaining to Diversity Abroad Student Services, the Diversity Abroad Network and Learning & Assessment. With the goal of enhancing the Diversity Abroad brand and advancing its mission the MCM will provide leadership in developing digital content and resources as well as manage media relations, social media, printed publications and contribute to planning and marketing our various digital and live events. The MCM will also provide analysis of our current audience and stakeholders and have the ability to think strategically about where and how we market new products and services. Qualified candidates will have demonstrated expertise in marketing strategy and a keen interest in diversity & inclusion within international education as well as highly effective interpersonal skills. The MCM is a full-time position that will work collaboratively with staff across the organization.
The Position - Marketing and communications are key aspects of the work undertaken at Diversity Abroad. In this role, the Marketing & Communications Manager will clearly articulate the vision and strategy of Diversity Abroad in all media to our different stakeholders and student audiences. The MCM reports to the Manager of Operations.
This position will depend heavily on telecommunications. Therefore, consistent access to the Internet, personal laptop computer and a mobile telephone is a must. While this is a remote position, preference will be given to those in the San Francisco Bay Area, Twin-Cities (MN) and Washington D.C. locations.
The MCM position will cover the following duties:
Development and management of marketing campaigns
Development of marketing strategy for existing and new services, events and products
Develop and manage publications and promotion materials
Manage weekly Diversity Abroad online newsletter distribution
Promote Diversity Abroad and its mission to outside stakeholders
Manage Diversity Abroad’s engagement with online communities
Develop press releases
Contribute to the understanding of how marketing directly impacts the revenue of the organization
Maintain an understanding of long and short term marketing trends and the ability to adapt strategy as needed
Contribute to general long-term strategy for the growth of Diversity Abroad and our mission
Champion the needs of our stakeholders and share market insights with the team
Manage interns and graduate students to assist in marketing and communications tasks
Assist staff in marketing events such as the Annual Diversity Abroad Conference, Regional Workshops, Online Webinars, etc.
Organize and assist with Diversity Abroad’s presence at outside events

Your Experience - To excel in the Marketing & Communications Manager position, you should have the following experience:
B.A./B.S. required, prefered areas of study are advertising, communication, hospitality/management or marketing
At least 4 - 6 years experience in a developing and executing marketing plans
Excellent written, oral, copy editing, and presentation skills
Use of Social media (Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, YouTube) for marketing and community building
Development of digital and physical promotional collateral
Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment utilizing good judgment and effective decision-making.
Ability to travel to attend events and conferences
Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to communicate to stakeholders about global education and travel as well as diversity and inclusion in higher education, is required
