Increase awareness of association and its legislative activities among current and potential members. Increase member participation and engagement. Responsible for implementing membership committee objectives and board recommendations.
Position reports to President; requires overnight and moderate weekend travel; attendance at various association and industry events; physically requires employee to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; must be a team player willing to work in a small interconnected office environment maintaining a positive and constructive attitude.
Maintain association’s database in Membee and Voter Voice (training provided);
Lead membership renewal process striving for 100% renewal rate; including invoicing, reporting, and follow up;
Lead membership recruitment process striving for goal set by membership committee;
Attend industry functions to create association awareness and promote legislative efforts to non-members while strengthening current member relationships;
Develop marketing strategies that utilize as much of the current membership as possible to build a strong peer to peer network;
Assist in the content development of association’s promotional efforts;
Produce all information for the membership directory; including editing membership list prior to printing and ensuring endorsed programs are represented;
Provide editorial for quarterly magazine. Provide new members, membership & contact information for each magazine;
Maintain direct contact with members while striving to make every member feel as though they are the number one member;
Identify members for a member campaign program; Assist with member campaign program promotional efforts including social media & website;
Manage association membership programs; Identify member needs in order to expand products and services for members;
Perform other duties as assigned
Excellent writing and interpersonal communications skills are imperative. Must be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously. Proficiency working with a membership database system is desired. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products is essential.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret contracts, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and informational content for association periodicals with minimal amount of errors. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from members (current and potential), board members and the general public.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Minimum of three years of professional experience, preferably with a nonprofit association, is required. A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is strongly preferred, but consideration will also be given to non-degree individuals with significant professional experience.
