TITLE: Business Development Specialist REPORTS TO: Vice President of Sales STATUS: Exempt
Position Summary: Acts as primary account manager and sales person to drive maintain and grow affiliate manufacturer and service provider membership categories. Responsible for business relationship development, revenue generation, membership engagement, membership retention, and new member recruitment within assigned accounts.
Successful lead generation, follow up with prospective members, and recruitment of affiliate and service provider members interested in engaging with AED and AED dealer/distributor members.
Sales revenue generation with manufacturer and service provider members and non-members through the sale of exhibits, sponsorships, and advertising.
Promotion of AED events and services and their value proposition for the member or prospective member.
Market research to identify and pursue new members for the association
Securing new memberships and sales revenue for the association through personal visits and telemarketing
Email marketing – design, format and write sales promotion e-mails
Responsible for membership award recognition for manufacturers and service providers.
Pull database lists for target marketing campaigns (both email and traditional mail) to different audiences
Work with association executives and Vice President of Sales to retain existing manufacturing and service provider members
Gain an in-depth understanding of association value propositions and be able to articulate it to existing members and prospective members.
Promote association services with existing and prospective members
Creation of presentations and marketing collateral to help communicate value proposition of membership
Manage prospect database and file regular call reports in the Association Management System (AMS).
Develop active sales pipeline list showing 30, 60, 90 and 120 day close dates of prospective new members and expected sales revenue
Manage annual travel and entertainment budget and submit expenses in accordance with financial policy
Approach others in a tactful manner; treats others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position; accept responsibility for own actions; follows through on commitments.

Minimum Skills, Abilities& Behaviors
High school diploma or GED required, bachelor degree preferred
Acts as ambassador of association and offers assistance when needed
Change agent with the ability to embrace change, work around obstacles and take on additional tasks when needed.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact with industry and association personnel.
Proficiency in a variety of software and on line applications including. Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook Words, Excel and PowerPoint) and association AMS
Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize, organize self to perform work accurately with detail orientation required.

Ability to travel up to 40% of the time to, visit with prospects and attend association events as requested.
