The USC Radio Group has 11 FM stations and a robust digital presence in Southern California and the SF Bay area, providing the prime classical music service for 1.3 million weekly listeners via KUSC and KDFC.Â KUSC is the largest and most listened to classical station in the country and is in downtown Los Angeles.Â KDFC is presently in the SOMA district of San Francisco and anticipating a move to the new San Francisco Conservatory building in the SF arts district. The stations are licensed to the University of Southern California (USC), one of the leading research universities in the nation with an admirable commitment to classical music, arts and the community.
Our successful operation is proactively working on new ways to build larger communities around classical music through radio presentations, digital offerings, and live events.
The Marketing manager is an experienced brand expert who can develop a brand promise and a new look and feel for an organization based on internal feedback and external audience research.Â S/he will be focused on the strategic development of a new brand plan for USC Radio Group including KUSC, KDFC. Â Reporting to the Vice President, Marketing and Sponsorship of USCRG, the marketing manager understands potential for audience service and growth on all platforms and builds effective strategies for the future in a cost-effective and sustainable way that builds loyalty and awareness. Â S/he helps develop a new look, feel and communication style that informs all brand elements including logo, websites, events, PR, external marketing, membership communication and more.
[Responsibilities and Duties]
The major responsibilities and duties of this job include:
Creates a cost, phasing and implementation brand plan for USCRG on all platforms that is in line with the mission on the organization.
Builds a streamlined external communication plan incorporating new brand promise.
Develops the new look and feel of the brand to ensure audience growth and loyalty for USCRG.
Creates and ensures a healthy ongoing brand development process that enables creative ideas and inspires creative people.
Works with the Development, Content and Outreach Departments to incorporate key brand elements.
Keen understanding of how to craft and evolve narratives and positioning based on audience research.
Understanding and informed perspective on the digital media landscape, key trends, and challenges.
Experience organizing a marketing plan around strategic objectives and measuring to optimize.
Experience working across a variety of content platforms including digital, video, social, and experiential.
Strong leadership capabilities with the ability to manage cross-functional partnerships with staff and external partners.
Open and collaborative - share insight, spirit and energy as a team member.
Ability to work at a detailed level while maintaining big picture perspective.
Budget Management understanding.
Expertise in negotiation with external entities.
Knowledge of public service media mission and funding models.
Bachelor's Degree or combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education
5 years or combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education
Thorough knowledge of marketing and management. Knowledge of the principles, practices, concepts, methodology, and techniques of marketing. Demonstrate verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated creative and artistic skills.
